Gelert began life in the small village of Beddgelert, nestled in the heart of Snowdonia, North Wales. Gelert takes its name from the Welsh legend of Gelert, the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llywelyn the Great. Gelert’s tombstone lies just south of the village of Beddgelert.
